home soft serve image
Andrew
When I was a kid(so mid 90's), I used to love to go to dairy queen and get a vanilla cone with the strawberry or chocolate coating. They would put the soft serve in the cone and then dip it in a tub of liquid coating and after a few seconds the liquid would harden into a shell. How do you make this at home. What do they even call it? I have no idea how to start looking.
Thanks

Homemade Magic Shell Ice Cream Topping Recipe
makes 6-8 servings
Ingredients
4 oz chocolate
3 TBS butter (salted) (or coconut oil and a tiny pinch of salt)
Instructions
Place chocolate in a microwaveable bowl and microwave for one minute. Add butter and microwave another minute. Stir and continue to microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring between until smooth.
If it gets very hot, let sit on the counter for 3-5 minutes to cool slightly. Once it’s liquid but not hot, drizzle generously over ice cream.
