Best Buttercream -this recipe is similar to one my mom got from a neighbor, we called it Betty White's frosting. It is mild and not too sweet.
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
1.In small saucepan cook flour and milk until it forms a ball, stirring constantly. Cool to room temperature.
2.With an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
3.Beat both mixtures together on high speed until fluffy and smooth. Add vanilla and beat until combined. Refrigerate for about 1/2 hour, until it is of spreading consistency.

Favorite Birthday Gifts to Make 15-Year-Old Boys and Girls Happy
By Benedict Manovill

Oh, the thrill of turning 15! Think of the party, the friends, and the party food such as ice cream and cake. Most of all, though, there are those favorite birthday gifts to make 15-year-old boys and girls happy. Let us look at a few.

The question is - which birthday gifts would be just right? Well, there might be a computer and all kinds of software. Or, perhaps a cell phone, an MP3 player, and a video game console.

Then, of course, consider a table tennis set for 4 players, a pair of skis and poles, a super sewing machine, or a scrapbooking set.

Let us take a peek at 5 other cool gifts to brighten the smile of that new 15-year-old.

Two-Way Radios -

This pair of two-way radios is solar powered and carries a charge of 12 hours of talk time. The range of the radios is 5 miles and they have 22 channels. This gift is so compact and light weight, that each radio can be easily carried in a pocket. This gift is a good bet for teens who are hikers, campers, or for those who just want to keep in touch.

MP3 Player -

This MP3 player has an extra long 4 GB hard drive memory so you can store thousands of songs and photos. It comes with a color screen and earbuds. This is a really popular gift.

Amazing Name Scroll -

Here is a gift that is always a big hit. Everyone loves his or her first name and to see it on a beautiful scroll is awesome. The first name and its meaning is written on a painting. The painting may be a kitten, a dog, horses, flowers, or a crest. There is also a golden crown, a crest, a seal and a colorful border. This treasured scroll is ready for framing.

Electric guitar -

This electric guitar is ready to play. No TV or sound system is needed. The guitar has its own controls for jam, speakers, band, and learn modes. There are built-in songs with a selection for Indie, metal, punk, and rock. There is also an earphone connection.

Scrapbooking is a sensational hobby. Everyone is doing it. Teens and adults love scrapbooking and produce works of art. This kit gives you everything you need to get off to a great start. It includes a digital camera, a photo editing CD, a USB cable, markers, scissors, stickers and colored paper.

I hope these gifts will give you some good ideas for yet more favorite birthday gifts to make 15-year-old boys and girls happy. Have fun at the birthday party.

I am looking to make a naturally low fat ice cream without using artificial ingredients or sweeteners. I am using an electric ice cream machine with a freezer bowl.

Answer
Eating Well Chocolate Ice Cream
3 cups 1% low-fat milk
1/4 cup dark corn syrup
2 tablespoon brown sugar
2 large egg yolks
2/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
2 tablespoon cornstarch
1 ounce bittersweet chocolate
1 tablespoon coffee liqueur
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup Marshmallow Fluff

1. In a large heavy saucepan, combine 2 1/2 cups milk, corn syrup and brown sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar, until steaming.

2. Meanwhile, in a medium-sized bowl, whisk together egg yolks, cocoa, cornstarch and the remaining 1/2 cup cold milk until smooth.

3. Gradually whisk the hot milk into the egg-yolk mixture; then return to the pan. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture boils and thickens, about 3 minutes. (Because the custard is thickened with cornstarch, it will not curdle when it boils.)

4. Remove from the heat, add chocolate, and stir until melted. Stir in coffee liqueur or brewed coffee and vanilla.

5. Transfer the custard to a large clean bowl and place a piece of wax paper directly over the surface to prevent a skin from forming. Cool completely. Add Marshmallow Cream and mix with a whisk until as smooth as possible. (The mixture will be a little lumpy; lumps will break down during stir-freezing.) Chill until cold.

6. Pour into the canister of an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. Number of Servings: 6

PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM
1/4 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1 cup skim milk
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (natural)
1 cup Fat Free Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 cup Fat Free Half & Half
2 tsp Vanilla
½ cup mini chocolate chips
In a medium mixing bowl beat the sugar into the eggs until slightly thickened and pale yellow. Set aside.
Bring the milk to a simmer in a medium saucepan over low heat. Slowly beat the hot milk into the eggs and sugar. Pour the entire mixture back into the pan and place over low heat. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or whisk until the custard thickens slightly. Do not let the mixture boil or the eggs will scramble.
Remove from the heat and beat in the peanut butter with a whisk. Pour the hot custard through a strainer into a large clean bowl. Allow to cool slightly, then whisk in the condensed milk, half & half and vanilla.
Cover and refrigerate until cold or overnight. Pour into ice cream maker canister and freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions. Add 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips when mixture is semi-frozen in ice cream maker.
Also, you may want to pick up the book "The Ultimate Ice Cream Book" or the Ben and Jerry's Ice cream and Desserts book. I have heard good things about both. I think the "Ultimate" book has a good vanilla lo fat recipe that makes a good starting point.

I have a kindle fire. I figure if you hack your kindle fire you can installed ice cream sandwich which makes your kindle a android tablet. Except I don't know how to. I need help

Answer
Hi Michael, I cannot help with the specific instructions but just one point to make here - you'd have lost Kindle Fire warranty when you rooted it. If you had instead Nook Tablet (that has much better performance and screen than Fire), you could've "rooted" Nook via microSD boot card and could switch back and forth between different OS versions by switching the microSD cards. Nooks have microSD slot while Kindles don't. Also, known issues with Kindle Fire are that it runs hot to touch, video playback is jerky, touch screen is not responsive and it takes 2-3 touches to register, power button placement is very poor and is prone to accidental power off, all the hype of Silk browser is not true where the browsing is actually slower than on other Android tablets, Wi-Fi connection gives a lot of trouble to users on it, etc.

This recipe is from a gold medal cookbook, that I had gotten a few years ago , its a christmas edition. the little paper ones that you would buy at the check out counter in the grocery store.
the recipe i want is called peppermint bon bon brownies. They are to go onto a tray of cookies we are selling for women and men (breast and prostate cancer) fundraiser. Someone tore out the recipe from my book, and i really need this asap. I posted the question before but I thought that it was a betty crocker book, my mistake . anyone who can help with the right one, gets the points. it has cream cheese center that you bake with the brownie , and chocolate chips in the cream cheese middle-is tinted green. thank you in advance.

Answer
I looked and looked - but this one might be a nice substitute...just fill the pan half way - add sweetened tinted cream cheese, then top with the rest of the mix - it should work!

Sift brownie mix to eliminate any clumps. Then add melted butter, water eggs and 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Mix by hand just until dry ingredients are incorporated.
Pour into prepared pan. Bake according to package directions. Let cool.
Beat togetheri cup powdered sugar and 1/2 cup softened butter. Mix in another 1/2 cup powdered sugar, then add 1 tablespoon milk and peppermint and vanilla extracts. SPread frosting evenly over the top. Place brownies in fridge to firm up frosting.
Bring 1/3 cup milk and 1/4 cup butter almost to a boil over medium heat. Pour chocolate chips into a heat-safe bowl. Pour milk mixture over the top and let sit for 5 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and whisk until smooth. Use an electric mixer to beat in 1 cup powdered sugar until frosting is smooth. Uncertain

An ice cream maker isnt necessary is it? Thanks for answers.

Answer
No, a ice cream maker is not necessary

Making Ice Cream Without A Machine:

1. Prepare your ice cream mixture, then chill it over an ice bath.

2. Put a deep baking dish, or bowl made of plastic, stainless steel or something durable in the freezer, and pour your custard mixture into it.

3. After forty-five minutes, open the door and check it.

As it starts to freeze near the edges, remove it from the freezer and stir it vigorously with a spatula or whisk. Really beat it up and break up any frozen sections. Return to freezer.

4. Continue to check the mixture every 30 minutes, stirring vigorously as it’s freezing. If you have one, you can use a hand-held mixer for best results, or use a stick-blender or hand-held mixer.

But since we’re going low-tech here, you can also use just a spatula or a sturdy whisk along with some modest physical effort.

5. Keep checking periodically and stirring while it freezes (by hand or with the electric mixer) until the ice cream is frozen. It will likely take 2-3 hours to be ready.

I want to buy an ice cream maker that works really well and is easy to use. What are some of the best brands to choose from in the $30 to $50 range?

Answer
Best budget ice-cream maker.Reviews say the countertop Cuisinart ICE-20 consistently delivers 1.5 quarts of creamy ice cream in about 20 minutes. The catch (as with all models under $100) is that you need to pre-freeze its gel-filled canister for 10 hours (depending on your freezer). An opening in the top makes adding ingredients simple, and the Cuisinart ice-cream maker cleans up easily. An automatic shut-off function prevents the motor from overheating. Users say this machine is a bit noisy, but it's quieter than its two-quart sibling, the Cuisinart ICE-30 (*est. $90). Compressor ice-cream makers don't need any pre-freezing, but they cost at least $150 more.

I need help with my home ice cream maker!?

ice cream and yogurt maker
 on Maker Ice Cream
ice cream and yogurt maker image

Alice Lock

My ice cream maker automatically freezes the contents and also has a motor which turns a blade.

The problem is that my ice cream is very hard - not "fluffy" like the store bought ice cream. I try not to use alot of actual cream - to keep the fat and calories down.

Does anyone know of a good low-fat recipe that freezes well??

Answer
Try to find some Rennet. It's an enzyme from the stomachs of animals that eat grasses and other greenery. It comes in tablet and liquid form. A health food store will have it. Some supermarkets will also have it. Rennet will give the ice cream a custard like texture. Instructions and recipes for ice cream and custard desserts will be in the package. To use Rennet you warm the ice cream mixture to about 100 degrees F, add the dissolved Rennet and let it stand undisturbed for 10 or so minutes. Then you pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and freeze as normal. Rennet is used in the preparation of some commercial ice creams, custards, yogurts and other foods.

Regardless of the amount of cream in your recipe, your homemade ice cream will never be as "fluffy" as store bought. Your home ice cream maker freezes and churns slow enough to allow large ice crystals to form. Commercial ice cream makers freeze quickly and continue to churn long after your home machine would have stopped. Also many of the "double churned" style ice creams are actually extruded thru a freezing nozzle. The nozzle holes are tiny and allow only minute ice crystals to form/pass.
