Is there a difference between Heavy Cream and Heavy Whipping Cream?

We have an ice cream maker and the recipe calls for heavy cream. We bought heavy whipping cream because that is all the store had but my husband said it tasted like whipped marshmallows. Did we buy the wrong thing? Help please before we make anymore and its not right. Thanks for any help. We are making the soft serve ice cream if that makes a difference!

The whipping cream sometimes have an emulsifying agent in them to make whipping easier.
That's all I can think of as the difference.
