I know you can run an emulator and I know you can hackintosh some computers, but can you run OS X on a homemade computer? and if anyones every hackintosh-ed a computer, hows the performance?

You can, I made one for my cousin with a p5kpl-am motherboard and e5200 cpu, with 4gb ram. The other important part, the hard drive, I am afrid I forget what I used but not all of them are suitable.
Anyway, it's totally possible and the performance was exactly what you would get from a store bought MAC, the only difference is the price.
Kingston RAM is memory btw
