i have a samsung galxy pocket which has and android version of 2.3.6 Gingerbread. now, i want to upgrade it to a higher version of android like Jellybean or Ice Cream Sandwich. is it possible? if yes, please tell me how to do it. thanks!

Download Samsung Kies [1] for your PC or Mac - that's Kies, not Kies Air, they are two different things.
Install it then run it. Once running, connect your phone via the USB cable that came with it. If there is an update that is available and compatible with your phone then Kies will tell you there is a firmware update ready.
Watch this video first [2] which explains the process. Take note of what the videos says with particular focus on the points that you should NOT interact with the phone during update, let it do what it has to do and don't worry about it changing modes / switching off etc.
If Kies does not tell you there is an update ready for your phone then there is no officially compatible update. You shouldn't try and update the phone manually as you risk bricking it. Like others said though if you really want to force an update then you'll have to root the device and update it that way.
