We’re making ice-cream from scratch (in a food processor) and haven’t got an ice-cream making machine. How long does ice-cream take to set in the freezer please?

2-3 hours, I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker and after it has churned and I pack it in a freezer safe plastic container, it takes a good 2 hours to firm up, check it, just poke it to see if it is firm in the centre, like testing a cake, use a toothpick or bamboo skewer.
