I have been jump roping about 3 times a week for a half hour, and do 60 reps of push ups, scissor kicks and sit ups., my cardio and endurance is pretty good, but I eat like a pig, fast food ice cream etc.

What will happen to a persons body? Will it just get thicker with a layer of fat over the muscles? I still have a gut too, but my legs and arms are getting better toned. Can you eat crap junk food and still get in good shape?

Answer
No, that's a horrible routine, nutrition is what determines your progress in terms of fat-loss, exercise just speeds up the process.

Also, if you want to get toned you can't workout the same muscle daily, you'll overwork it and lose muscle mass, which will prevent it from showing better (which is the purpose of toning). Each muscle needs a minimum of 48 hours rest after the day you worked on it, so change your routine to fix it that way.

What will happen to a person's body? Increased cholesterol levels and risk for various diseases and health issues. You will have an increased bodyfat percentage as well.

If you want to tone you need to consume healthy foods, low in calories. Contrary to popular belief, fat-loss is not as simple as the calories consumed and the calories lost.

Your diet needs to be low-calorie, based around 40% protein (to maintain muscle mass), 30% low GI carbohydrates (proper function and energy), and 30% healthy fats (believe it or not, you need healthy fats for fat-loss). You need to get plenty of water as well. You should be having 3 small meals a day and 2-3 small snacks to speed up your metabolism.

Don't just go by calories, whether or not the food is healthy matters just as much, contrary to popular belief. Fat-loss is not as simple as the calories consumed and the calories lost.

Good sources of protein are lean meat, eggs, and fish. Good sources of carbohydrates are yam, sweet potatoes, and fruit. Good sources of healthy fats are avocados, fish, and nuts and seeds.

Best of luck!
