Acne diet
Acne : Home Remedies suggested by users
All-fruit Acne diet
To begin with, the patient should take only an 'all-fruit' diet for a week, taking three meals a day, of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grapefruit, pineapples, and peaches. Only unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be drunk and nothing else.

Well-balanced Acne diet
After the one-week, all-fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well-balanced diet with emphasis on raw foods, especially fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouted seeds, raw nuts, and wholegrain cereals, particularly millet and brown rice. Further short periods of the 'all-fruit' diet for three days or so may be necessary at a monthly interval till the skin's condition improves.

Avoid strong tea/coffee, soft drinks and processed foods
Meats, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, soft drinks, candies, ice cream, refined and processed foods should be avoided as far as possible.

Other Acne natural treatments
Warm-water enema
During the initial one week 'all-fruit' diet, a warm-water enema taken daily cleanses the bowels. Apply hot fomentation locally to open up the pores and to bring out the waste matter. Then rinse the affected parts with cold water.

Hot Epsom salts bath
A hot Epsom salts bath twice a week is beneficial in all cases of acne. This bath is prepared by adding 1 ½ kg of Epsom salts to 60 litres of water having a temperature of about 37.8° C. The patient should remain in the bath tub for 25-35 minutes till he sweats freely. After the bath, the patient should cool off gradually.

Answer
A cold sore is a version of the herpes virus. It is different from the genital herpes virus but can be transmitted to the genitals if the facial herpes comes in contact with the genitals. It is important to be careful during a cold sore outbreak. Don't touch your lips and then touch your eyes or nose or genitals. These areas are the most prone to contracting herpes. You can also pass this virus to another person by touching the other person with the infected area.

Cold sores are very resilient. The herpes virus connects to your nerve system and attacks the infected area. The virus then goes into a state of hibernation before your immune system can attack it. This enables it to go undetected by your body and remain with you for your entire lifetime. Chicken pox is another form of herpes which remains in your body and can later resurrect as shingles when you are older.

Don't let this information frighten you. This is only a precaution so that you don't encounter anymore awkward situations in your life. Cold sores on your lips are embarrassing enough. With proper handling during an outbreak, you can limit your cold sores to only attacking your lips. You may be able to even prevent further outbreaks.

There are several treatments for cold sores. Here are the most effective remedies.

1. Abreva. This is an over-the-counter cream that attacks the herpes virus and shortens the time of an outbreak. It is best to apply Abreva at the initial tingling sensation of a cold sore, before it appears on your lip.

2. Valtrex. This is a prescription medication usually intended for genital herpes. It is sometimes subscribed for cold sores also. Talk to your general doctor or a specialist about possible prescription treatments.

3. Limit stress. Since the herpes virus is connected to your nervous system, a primary trigger of a cold sore outbreak is stress. Change your lifestyle to limit the amount of stress in your life. Practice stress relieving exercises such as meditation or yoga. A cold sore is often referred to as a worry wart. It is a visible sign that you are under physical or mental stress. A cold sore outbreak often causes a person to feel embarrassed which causes more stress and lengthens the time of the outbreak.

4. Ice. Sudden changes in weather places stress upon your body. Cold sores often attack in early spring and late fall when temperatures can change drastically from day to day. Intense cold usually helps to counteract an attack. When you feel the initial tingling sensation of a cold sore outbreak, press a piece of ice on your lip where you have the outbreaks. Let the ice touch your bare skin while you hold the ice with a clean cloth. Practice this 3 times per day with a new cloth until the cold sores have disappeared. If you catch it early, you can often eliminate an outbreak.

5. Chapstick. Keep your lips clean and moist. Don't allow your lips to chap or feel stress from the weather. Avoid allowing the cold sore to come in contact with saliva or water. After washing your face, towel dry the infected area thoroughly before applying Chapstick.

6. Sunscreen. Ultraviolet rays from the sun can trigger a herpes outbreak, even during the winter. Apply sunscreen to the areas affected by cold sores. This will help prevent possible outbreaks.

7. Keep your immune system strong. Herpes usually attacks when your immune system is the weakest. A cold sore outbreak can even be an early sign of another oncoming illness such as the flu or a cold. Eat a healthy diet and take Vitamin C. Get at least 8 hours of sleep each night.

My friend and I got bored in class so we put pink highlighter on my nails. I used soap and water and it wont come off. Nail polish remover doesn't help either. Any suggestions?

Answer
try ice-cream.

seriously. the high-fat content might be just the thing to bond with it - my little brother had marker all over his face (when he was a baby) nothing wuold take it off. but he had a cold, and he was eating ice-cream and he'd gotten ice-cream and mucus all over his face - it took the marker off! you probably don't need to add mucus to the ice-cream.... but I thought you should know it might help?

Also, lighter fluid can work, so can oil - vegetable oil, (again with the fat content) or even motor oil can work to eliminate a variety of stains. - the oil in your hair might work, as well, Ive used oils off my face to spot-clean and polish soap-stone, and wood. It worked ok (but be mindfull if you try that as I understand soapstone is a carcinogen, so don't be lazy and rub the stone on your face)

conversely, you could use sand-paper or a little sanding disk and a dremel tool - if you've got a steady hand. then use some acrylic compound and buff it smooth again or perhaps their is a cheap nail repair kit. (probably safer than power tools, it'd be a shame to actually cut off your finger-tips or permanently damage how your nails develop) - actually, I fine grit sand-paper should be ok, it doesn't feel like sand-paper, its such a fine count. it should still be abrasive enough to deal with the film of ink off the top layer of your nails.

if you're not in a hurry, you can just wait till it grows out or else paint over top of them with something better. there is a possibility that the ink from the highlighter will bond with the enamel and chip off "naturally" or else get removed with the enamel when you use the polish remover. could always try a test spot, this option has the least likelihood of causing damage or embarrassment. telling people you picked your nose to clean your nails will get you funny looks, even if it works.
