How do I get rid of a headache from eating ice cream too fast?

Answer
Drink something warm.

Ice cream headaches are caused when the cold liquid hits the top of your mouth (the hard palette). Warming the top of your mouth will take away the pain.

I've been getting tension headaches everyday recently. Typically I don't have headaches at all. I've found that eating a bowl of ice cream helps get rid of the headache. Why is this? Is there some healthier I could eat to resolve the problem?

Answer
Crack a cuple of ice cubes, place in damp washcloth. Rub along forehead fr temple to temple repeatedly.

Rub also on nape of neck up into the hairline at the top of your spine.

It's miraculous!!

Also try Bachs Rescue Remedy from the health food store, spray under tongue 4 times. It really works

I was eating some ice cream while i was answering some questions, and I got one of those ice creal headaches. Does anybody know whats the best way to get rid of them as quick as possible?

Answer
When something cold touches the roof of your mouth on a hot day, it triggers a cold headache. The cause is a dilation of blood vessels in the head. The dilation may be caused by a nerve center located above the roof of your mouth -- when this nerve center gets cold, it seems to over-react and tries to heat your brain.

Therefore, the easy way to avoid "brain freeze" is to keep cold things away from the roof of your mouth! They usually only last around 30 seconds so you should'nt have a headache any more, other than that , short of asprin, dunno, maybe somthing warm.
