Utopia
I hear all these poloticians talk about creating new jobs and strengthening our economy, then why do they allow the jobs and manufacturing to be exported away-
could you imagine the Jobs and companies that could be created here in the USA if even 50% of this exporting was stopped?
Answer
Its actually the consumer's fault!
The US has a massive current account deficit. This means that Americans are buying more products from overseas than from domestic companies (regardless of where their products are made). This means we are shipping more and more dollar bills to foreign companies than to domestic companies. People want Lexus', BMWs, Acuras, Hondas, etc, more than they want American.
Why? Largely because they are cheaper. The American employee is one of the most expensive employees in the world. In order to compete, the US Companies MUST cut costs...and that is labor. So they ship it over to foreign countries. This makes their product cheaper, and therefore they are competitive to their international rivals.
The government knows this and knows there is nothing that can be done until the American consumer decides to start spending on US products.
