ok so me and my buddies came back from getting ice cream and i actually got a little on my shorts. well i happened to be wearing my swim shorts so i thought "no big deal , i can just jump in the pool when we get back".

well, for some reason people make swim shorts with pockets. and for some reason i had my iphone 4s in my pocket. and for some reason i decided to run in and jump without thinking twice, right into the deep end of the pool.

i didn't notice what i had done until i felt at my pocket on the way out of the pool (almost immediately after i jumped in)

i tore it out of my pocket, took the case off (the heavy duty otterbox thing ) and wrapped it in paper towels as a quick fix.

the case was soaked but the actual iphone didnt seem very wet. it was still on but the screen was very dim and i tried to turn it off.

the camera light on the back of the iphone is blinking. i don't know why,

how screwed am i yahoo answers community, can i fix it?

Answer
The answer is to dry it out a minimum of 3 full days... there are a few people that say this process can be done quicker, it may be true but those methods also risk damage... so I would not risk it.

The problem with drying out an iPhone is that the battery is not removable. iPhones require more dry time than most Androids due to this.

The trick is not to rush this... every attempt at running your phone (with the possibility of water inside), is a __% risk of permanent damage. (Considering the price of these phones, why would you risk it anyway, WAIT THE 3 full DAYS)

You need to submerge it in rice...

First... Dry the phone off with towels.

Second... Use a high power vacuum to get as much water out as you can through the various holes in the device.

Third... Run a blow dryer a low heat setting for a while in those same holes

Fourth... Put the phone in a container of FRESHLY OPENED rice and reseal as quickly as possible. (Leave your phone in the sealed container for 3 full days)
