I've found a hand-written recipe (old) that calls for a family block of vanilla ice cream. It's used in a Jelly Cream Ring. I'm also guessing that the recipe comes from the UK somewhere as it also calls for jelly squares. I haven't quite figures out which relative wrote it. Thanks for any help.
The recipe calls for 2 packets of jelly squares, 1 pint boiling water, 13 1/2 oz. tinof raspberries and a ring mould to hold 3 1/2 pints.

I would assume a "block" is referring to a quart. Or whatever a "quart" used to simulate back when it was written. Great find, by the way.
